Long coffee spiked - autumn edition

Autumn has arrived, sweater time is here and maybe more and more of us are craving a nice book, a hot drink and a soft blanket to relax.
If you prefer a long coffee instead of tea for a hot drink, here are our autumn favourites!

There are some flavours and smells that we immediately associate with autumn. Like pumpkin, cinnamon or apple. We love them in cookies or in a dish, and we can eat almost any amount of them.

They're perfect for a well-deserved post-lunch coffee or a well-deserved cup of coffee with a cup of coffee and a good read. No complicated kitchen tricks are needed this time, and the ingredients list isn't too long either.

Pumpkin latte

Unadulterated autumn flavours - pumpkin latte

The "pumpkin spice latte" is perhaps the most famous autumn coffee speciality, and is also a favourite at various cafés at this time of year. The good news is that it's easy to make at home!
Here's how!

Ingredients (for 1 person) :

  • Steamhouse Plan B long coffee
  • 1 small pumpkin
  • 2-3 dl milk (or vegetable drink)
  • 1 teaspoon spice mix.

Ingredients for the spice mix (several portions):

  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp ground nutmeg
  • half a tbsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cloves.

The spice mix will be a larger portion, you will need 1 coffee spoonful for 1 serving of latte. But no worries, feel free to put it away in a small sealable jar until the next time you have coffee.

Cut the pumpkin in half, scrape out the seeds and roast at 180 degrees until completely tender.
Put 2 large tablespoons of the roasted pumpkin in a blender, add milk and a teaspoon of the spice mix. After a quick blend in a small bowl, bring to the boil and then pour into the mug!
Just a long coffee and your delicious latte is ready! For those with a sweet tooth, you can drizzle with maple syrup or agave syrup, or garnish with a little whipped cream if you like.

Apple-ginger long coffee

A great book, a good coffee and you're ready to get cracking!

The combination of apple, ginger and cinnamon is perhaps "the smell of autumn", now you can have it in coffee form.
It takes a few minutes to make (about 4-5), so you can even make it in the office.

Ingredients:

  • Steamhouse Plan B long coffee
  • apple-ginger teabag
  • a pinch of cinnamon
  • 2-3 dl milk (or vegetable drink).

Soak the tea filter in the hot coffee for 4-5 minutes. While the coffee is being brewed, the milk is heated and then made into a froth.
This process is very simple and can be done without a fancy frother. All you need is warm milk and a jar (with a lid). If you happen to have 1 or 2 empties on hand POLCZ bottles, feel free to use them! Pour the milk into the jar and shake for 2-3 minutes. It froths up nicely, although if you're into "latte art", it's not ideal for that.
Once the filter is wet, you can add the "flavoured" long coffee, the frothy milk and a pinch of cinnamon on top.

They're guaranteed to be a great addition to an afternoon's reading, or as an after-lunch refreshment in the office!
